Electrolysis is the only permanent method of hair removal recognized by the American Medical Association. It is a time proven method that's been around for over a century. The procedure guarantees safe and efficient hair removal in achieving the outcome and desires of the client. Several treatments over a period of time may be needed to secure permanency, however you will notice that hair begins to appear thinner, finer, and blonder!
Dr. Charles E. Michael, an Ophthalmologist, developed the science of electrolysis while seeking a solution to ingrown eyelashes. He refined his idea of using a galvanic current to damage and eventually kill the regenerative cells that nourishes the hair in the follicle. Once the hair germ cells that rejuvenate a hair have been eliminated from the follicle, the hair can no longer grow.
Contrary to popular belief, electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal service. Electrolysis targets and ensures 100% of hair and hair cells in the follicle will not grow back. Other types of hair removal methods, like laser targets approximately 80% of hair in the follicle and fails to eradicate any gray or blonde hairs. There are temporary methods like Vaniqa, which inhibits hair growth where the cream is applied but grows back when the ointment is no longer used.
The process begins by disinfecting the area that is to be treated. A fine sterile disposable probe is inserted into the existing hair follicle and a low intensity electrical current is initiated. The treated hair is then removed from the skin. Once the treatment of the area is complete, an antibacterial gel is applied topically. The skin may appear slightly red or swollen, both are normal reactions. Skin tolerance and the amount of work performed on an area determines the length of time the skin will need to heal.
Sensations associated with treatment can vary. Certain areas of the body are more sensitive to treatment than others. The insertion of the probe is not felt, but the action of the current may produce minor discomfort. Most patients report that they feel a slight tingly warm sensation.
Men, women, and adolescents seek out electrolysis not only as a solution to the problem of unwanted hair, but for the convenience of maintaining a hair-free look on the face and body. It can improve self image and is often psychologically uplifting for patients. Electrolysis is for everyone. It's not just the right solution, it's the only solution for being permanently hair-free.

The treatment window is determined by many factors that affect the natural growth of hair. Some may include:
1. Heredity, puberty, pregnancy, and menopause can cause physiological changes to occur and promote the growth of unwanted hair. Stress can be another determining factor as it stimulates the adrenal glands and initiates hormonal reactions that trigger soft hairs to become more coarse.
2. Birth control, high blood pressure, and steroid medications are only a few of the drugs associated with an increase in hair growth.
3. Malfunctions of the endocrine system (glands & organs) can play a major role in abnormal hair growth. Irregular menstrual cycles, ovarian cysts, or complications of the thyroid gland can release an excessive amount of hormones which causes hair growth to fluctuate.
4. Irritation of the skin via scars, sunburn, friction from a cast, and any tweezing or waxing will increase blood flow to the surface. This ultimately results in stronger and faster growing hair follicles.
